As a follow up:

Fedora is not my favorite distro (its closer to my least favorite). It’s always had driver issues for me. No hardware I’ve ever had has had available drivers for Fedora for some reason. That said it is cool that Fedora is being used on Raspberry Pi like this….still think the Ubuntu/Android concept is cooler. Rasp. Pi does have uses outside a standard desktop though…like in robotics or unconventional computing (like a computer in your fridge or whatever), but again Android is all set for robotics too.

A Linux driven one-device future:

This is a very interesting concept. We’ll see how well it works once its deployed. I like the idea of a phone that can also be plugged into a monitor/computer/docking station and become my workstation (if for nothing else to be a workstation in a pinch…but coding on a mobile is hell). This will make Raspberry Pi useless to me.

There’s a fucking shocker. A crack-head died of mixing drugs and booze. Wow. Meanwhile the respectible Roger Boisjoly (won the Prize for Scientific Freedom and Responsibility, also called out the Challenger disaster before it happened) died of more mundayne natural causes and nobody even knows who he was. Our priorities are f-ed.

ICS on Kindle Fire

So I took the plunge and installed Cyanogenmod 9 on the Kindle Fire (for testing purposes of course). Gotta say it looks very nice! There are things missing (like Netflix) but overall I’d say its a great build of Android. Very impressed.

Until Netflix returns I can’t keep CM9 on there. I need my Netflix. Fortunately FireFireFire and TWRP make it very, very easy to switch back and forth between stock Kindle’s Gingerbread, and CM’s ICS.
