1. RG3 and Cousins

I was excited about RG3.  He sounded excited to be a Redskin.  He has made every indication that he was all-in in Washington, he is a stand-up guy who’s a great role model for the kids, and he’s ready to step up in the spot light and can handle the pressure and be a leader for the Redskins.  When the Redskins drafted Cousins I was upset.

That was then, I’ve thought about it since then.  You know what: I’m cool with it.  RG3 is the guy, no doubt.  The Redskins have been HORRIBLE at the QB position for over 10 years, or 20 years!  The Skins needed more than a #1 guy, they need the whole position to be fixed.  From #1, to #2, to #3 in the depth chart.

LANDOVER, MD - JANUARY 02: Quarterback Rex Gr...

Rex Grossman is almost a good QB, but he’s old, and the majority of the time he’s too much of a gun slinger.  He is, however, very familiar with the Shanny system.  That bodes well for the re-working of the system.  Now they bring in a stud at #1, and a solid guy at #3, and they’ve got the veteran with a lot to teach at #2.  That’s a good start to fixing the 2-decade long QB debacle in DC.

Now I know the Skins have had good QB’s over the last 20 years, but the position has never been solid.  Year to year there is always a QB controversy in DC.  Some are saying that now there is a new one with the drafting of both RG3 and Cousins.  I’m of the opinion that this was certainly not the rebirth of the DC QB controversy, but rather a dismissal of it.  The Skins have basically solidified that position for years to come.

By the time Grossman leaves Cousins will be a solid #2 guy.  Not to mention the notion that if Cousins matures into a great QB Washington can trade him for picks they lost trading for RG3.  This was a good move.  If RG3 is scared by Cousins then he wasn’t the guy and the assets lost to get him was the mistake, and in that scenerio Cousins turns out to be a good QB and Washington still comes out ahead.

I’m still excited about next season and am planning on grabbing one of these authentic RG3 jerseys and some season tickets as soon as possible!

  2. A shitty weekend made great by zombies

I hate Rex Grossman so much.  Not since Jeff George have I despised a Redskins quarterback so much.  Sure there have been plenty of bad QB’s in DC, but only George and Grossman have been guys to say, “Yeah, I’m the man, I can do this.” And have sucked so bad that its entirely their fault the Skins lost a game.

The defense was on the field for 20 of 30 minutes in the first half.  Against a speed offense like the Eagles its a true credit to the Redskins defense that they were able to hold them to field goals at all, and that nobody had to be hooked up to oxygen.

This guy not only let the fans and his teammates down by playing so shitty, but he injured Chris Cooley (Redskins fan favorite) with his dumb-shit pass that put him directly into harms way.

The Redskins could’ve started an robot parrot from a failed Rainforest Cafe franchise and won that game.  Argh!

If it wasn’t for the return of The Walking Dead my entire week would be shit. Fortunately The Walking Dead is so amazing that it immediately made me feel better.
